Maximal incremental exercise testing with COSMED K5
Luca Borgianni and Jacopo Tartaglia, swimmers and triathletes, carried out a maximal incremental exercise test with COSMED K5 wearable metabolic system on bike and treadmill with the assistance of Giacomo Faraci from O2UP team.
Maximal incremental exercise testing is commonly used in exercise physiology to determine physiological variables, such as peak oxygen uptake, peak heart rate and peak power output, together with other submaximal metabolic parameters [i.e., lactate (LT) and ventilatory thresholds (VT)].
The K5 uses the latest technology, including COSMED's 4th generation opto-electronic reader and proven and reliable highly linear and rapid response O2 (GFC) and CO2 (NDIR) sensors.
